Joe Lanzo digital paintings, photomanipulations in Hoboken Artists ‘ Studio Tour

Hoboken artist Joe Lanzo exhibiting digital painting and photomanipulations in Hoboken City Hall, 94 Washington St., today as part of the Hoboken 31 artists Studio Tour.

Lanzo, 48, often paint using software like Corel Painter, digital and mix and manipulate photos that mashes up them until he comes to us with something surreal, colorful and visually stimulating. The result is then printed onto canvas and hung.

Inhabitants of Hoboken switch from traditional to digital six years ago when he realized freedom of modern technology to offer artists.

He said that in order to correct an error on his mind or changing of an addition to the traditional painting, he had to scrape off paint and retouch work before proceeding. The software, however, can remove the entire layer of paint is painless and easy, he said, adding that the digital painting allows the hands to work quickly to mind.

"I think the fast that I had to see it quickly. I can be more creative and do what I want. "
